These are some of the pottery
and paintings I did before I began making glass beads.
The two birds are coiled in
hollow form ,stoneware clay
The two lidded pots are Raku.
The method originally used by chinese potters fired to a
high temperature, removed when red hot and put into wood shavings,
the wood sets alight which causes the glaze to craze, turning
clay to turn black. The oxides used in some glazes produce beautiful
colours.I used a tin oxide to produce a white glaze
.
The clowns were made for my grandchildren
and are painted with on glaze colours before the final fireing
The paintings are water colours and are
Lake district scenes ,the dog was a friends pet.
I still paint and Thornthwaite gallery in
Thorthwaite Village, near Keswick in Cumbria sell my beads and
paintings.
